Amanda Rothschild currently serves as the Senior Policy Director of the Vandenberg Coalition. She is also a nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Prior to these roles, Amanda served as Senior Advisor on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State and as a Special Assistant to the President and the Senior National Security Speechwriter at the White House. During her time at the White House, Amanda traveled with President Trump for his international engagements and foreign policy meetings, including the 2017 Asia Trip, several United Nations meetings, State Visits abroad, and the Helsinki, Singapore, and Hanoi Summits. She is a recipient of the National Security Council’s Outstanding Service Award.
Amanda received her PhD in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was a member of the MIT Security Studies Program, and she completed predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard’s Belfer Center. She received her BA from Boston College, where she was a Scholar of the College and member of the varsity women’s ice hockey team. Her research and commentary on international and political affairs have appeared in scholarly and popular outlets such as International Security, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the New York Times, Forbes, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, and the Washington Examiner.
