The Vandenberg Coalition is seeking a Manager for State and Campaign Engagement
States have been undertaking some of the most important national security policies over the last few years as they confront growing CCP influence, attempt to secure their critical infrastructure from external threats, protect their citizens and land from illicit foreign influence, and manage the border and fentanyl crisis. States, not just federal agencies, are now a key battleground for America’s security and prosperity.
The Manager for State and Campaign Engagement at The Vandenberg Coalition (TVC) will be responsible for assisting the Director for Government Affairs in developing and implementing TVC’s government relations strategy as it relates to Congressional campaigns and state-level engagement. This position will report directly to the Director for Government Affairs.
The successful candidate will have background with operations, ideally has served on a campaign or in state–level positions, has a keen interest in foreign policy, and shares a commitment to the organization’s mission.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Director for Government Affairs on implementing the strategy for short to medium term candidate engagement, including goals, metrics for success, and priority engagement areas.
Serve as the voice and face of the Vandenberg Coalition among campaign staff and state governments through regular outreach, coordination, and briefings.
Travel to states to better understand key national security issues and interests at play in priority districts.
Program events and other educational programming for state leadership.
Expand TVC’s network of relationships with candidates for Congress, state leaders, and state-level organizational partners.
Keep TVC apprised of critical state-level legislation that may be of interest to our network; track positions of candidates in areas of interest to TVC.
Support the Executive Director, Director for Government Affairs, and Senior Policy Director in outreach and engagement with the DC foreign policy community.
Take on and assist with other projects and tasks that may be assigned to you from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-4 years experience preferred, ideally with a state-level organization or campaign
Ability prioritized over education level – Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proven ability to manage all elements of public events, from planning to implementation
Proven ability to manage multiple vendors and serve as a positive representation of the organization

DETAILS
Salary commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package offered, including 401K matching program and comprehensive vision, dental, and medical insurance. This is a Washington, DC based position with a hybrid working environment. Travel will be required approximately 5-10 times per year.
