Scheunemann is Strategic Counselor at the Halifac International Security Forum. He has traveled to more than 100 countries and regularly lectures on foreign policy and security issues. Scheunemann worked as a staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations, House Foreign Affairs, and House Republican Policy Committees, and as consultant to the Office of Secretary of Defense. From 1993 to 1999, he served as national security adviser to Senate Republican and Majority Leaders Bob Dole and Trent Lott. He has worked on a number of presidential campaigns: In 1996, he was senior adviser to candidate Bob Dole. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Defense and Foreign Policy Coordinator for the McCain 2000 presidential campaign. From 2007-2008, he served as Director of Foreign Policy and National Security for the McCain campaign.
